From Diploma (in India) to Degree (in U.S.A)

I'm currently in the 4th semester of my diploma course (after 10th) in I.T. I still have a year to go before I have to apply for admission.

Does anybody have any idea regarding the process involved in Diploma to (B.E.) Degree Admission? Also do American Institutes consider Diploma, equivalent to 12th from India?
