I'm from the US, but have been considering the possibility of doing my master's and possibly further education in Europe. I've lived in Europe, and my wife is from there (not the country(ies) I'm considering, but still), so it wouldn't be a 'new adventure'; I'm however unfamiliar with the quality of the graduate education compared to that of the US.
Obviously the tuition is much less compared with the US, and that's one of my main reasons for asking.
The countries I'm primarily concerned with are Belgium (KU Leuven), Germany, or a country like that.
Are the graduate programs in mathematics/physics of high enough quality in Europe to compare to a degree from the US? In what major ways do they differ?
