I am working on a research project with one professor in my spare time. Today, he just e-mailed me asking whether I wanted to do an honours degree under his supervision.
I am a first-year undergraduate and I honestly do not want to do an honours degree all together; I do not quite see the value in it - But I do not want to harm our relationship as I will be working with this professor for at least a year or so on this project.
How should I put him down? I don't want to give a firm 'no' as that may hurt his feelings (for lack of a better phrasing). Perhaps, something along the lines: Thank you I will deeply consider it. Again, I do not want to ruin our relationship.
Any advice would be really appreciated.
