So I recently took the GRE in Nov and Dec and I need to send out my scores to the universities I am applying to. Problem,I didn't score all that well on the math portion, way below my abilities, I scored a 162Q which is very low for the grad programs I am interested in. So I retook the exam in Dec and I got the same score of 162Q, heartbroken though I did a a lot better on the verbal. My problem, should I send in both scores? If I send out only the Dec score they will know I cherry picked from the exams I took, as no one really takes the exam just once, unless you got a perfect 170. If I send out both the Dec and Nov scores, it only validates that I really belong at the 162Q level which really underestimates my math abilities, FYI, I was a math major in college and I work as a junior quant trader at a large bank in NYC. I have incredibly strong math skills, the math portion of the GRE is an absolute joke, my problem with the exam is I am very formulaic/model driven, its the first approach I take, instead of picking numbers, back-solving, so I end up taking a lot of time on some questions, longer than a liberal arts major who has no math background but was tutored the exam the correct way of first picking numbers/back solving etc. Realzing the BEST method to solve the problem is 90% of the problem - I just figured this out. The exam makers intentionally put these types of questions to screw people such as myself who are rigid and who lack mental flexibility I now know my problem now, I just realized it after having a hard look at myself. Sadly, its too late for me to retake I have to send out my scores tomorrow for the Jan 1st deadline. Should I send both or just one?
