What are the advantages of a US Math degree over an Indian Math degree for undergraduates?

**

  • Facts:

**

  • My family owns three flats/apartments which are all mortgaged.

  • My father still says we have enough money to send me to the US for an undergraduate education. My brother says we don't and he has no idea where the money will come from.

  • They can afford 20 lakh rupees for the first year but the rest of the years are an unknown variable.

  • I want to study Mathematics. I didn't have Science in my last two years of senior school. Most mathematics majors in India require Physics, but I could, maybe, do Econometrics or a BBA or a B.Com degree and take up Math again for Masters.

  • I do not know what to do after I get an undergraduate degree in mathematics. In fact, I am pretty unsure about studying Mathematics as an undergraduate itself, which is why I have applied to a lot of liberal arts colleges in USA.

  • The only universities worth the money, according to my family, are the Ivies or Stanford.

  • I scored a 92/100 in ICSE in Mathematics, a 790/800 in Mathematics of SAT 1, 760/800 in SAT 2 Mathematics.

  • I will have to work after my Bachelors if I am in USA. As I will require an H-1 visa and a business which will sponsor me, is this the best choice considering how many students have to return every year? If I have to return to India, my education and degree will be a waste because mathematicians, to my knowledge, aren't appreciated in the Indian corporate sector or even in teaching.

  • If I stay in India, I will have to settle for B.Com or BBA or Economic Honours or Econometrics. Consequently, for Masters, I will only get the opportunity to study Mathematics with a focus on Statistics, though I am interested in Applied Math.

  • I want to settle abroad eventually. If I go now, the financial burden will be on my entire family, but if I stay in India, I can make the money myself. It has been my lifelong dream to study in one of the more prestigious universities at some point under the guidance of people who are truly excellent in their field. If I stay in India, I will also have to finish Masters and work for three years or so before applying to US Masters programs.

Considering the above facts and my personal situation, I would really appreciate honest insight and advice.
