I'm making a change in my career path, from Law to Comp Sci. I'm fascinated with software engineering but there are a lot of things I need to learn and understand. I get that this field is a practical one and would appreciate advice on how I should go about starting as a beginner/novice; i.e. what books should I read, what websites should I spend time on to learn the basics to be able to move forward?
