Can I become a researcher with only Btech and Mtech

I am currently in Class X in India. I am good in Maths, Physics, and Computer Sc, but not very good in Chemistry. I think of choosing Science stream next year PCM probably.

My question is this : Should I do B Sc or BTech ? I think to pursue B Tech, but then people told me that I can't go into theoretical research with B Tech. Is B Sc necessary for becoming a researcher / Scientist, or is Btech and Mtech fine for becoming a scientist/researcher?

Also, what is taught in B tech and B Sc?

Also do big scientists and physicists do btech or bsc? Thank you very much.
