I'm an international student from Pakistan. I have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from one of the top CS universities in Pakistan (NUCES). I currently have 1.5 years of experience working as a developer in one of the better software houses in Karachi.
I'm planning on applying to the US to get a Master's degree in CS. Primarily, however, I want to attend a university in Texas, preferably near Dallas, as I have a lot of family there. My undergrad GPA is 2.85. I have relatively good GRE scores (158 in verbal, 159 in quantitative and 4.5 in analytical) and scored an 8 in my IELTS. I can also boast a fantastic professional record through my reference letters.
I've looked at UT-Dallas, UT-Arlington, UNT and SMU, but all of those universities require at least a 3.0 GPA at undergrad level, which is deterring me from applying. Can anyone recommend whether or not I should still apply to these colleges (if they may be willing to bend their minimum GPA requirement) or any other schools within Texas (though preferably near Dallas) with less restrictive requirements?
